No matter where we go, there is always the chance that we’re going to run into some sort of danger-especially when we are out in nature. You may think you have all the survival tips under your belt, but nature can throw twists and turns at us that we may not be prepared for.
However, there are many ways that nature lets us know when danger may be about to strike. You can’t always depend on the weather forecast to decide if you’ll be safe going out or not.
If Volcanoes Shake, Swell, And Get Gassy, They’re About To Blow
Although volcanoes can be cool to look at and visit if we get the opportunity to do so, the story of Pompeii has shown us that they can be very deadly. You may be asking, how can I tell if one is about to erupt? For starters, there will most likely be small earthquakes under the volcano. It can also swell and release more heat and gas, but these types of signs are very difficult for someone like you or I to notice and/or feel.
Lucky for us, we have people called volcanologists who are always monitoring these types of signals via radar satellites and other detectors. A lot of nature’s warning signs can be hard to detect without the use of technology. It’s unfortunate, though, that it’s not easy for scientists to monitor the gas an impending eruption releases the most-water vapor since there so much water vapor in the air already.

X-ray (short for x-radiation) is a form of high-energy electromagnetic radiation(EM). Microwaves, visible light, gamma rays, infrared light, and ultraviolet light are the other types of electromagnetic radiation which travel in waves but have different wavelengths. Identifying things like broken bones, diseases, pneumonia, and breast cancer are the most common use of X-rays.

Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen, a German Scientist, was experimenting with vacuum tubes when he accidentally discovered X-rays in 1895. His discovery led to the first Nobel Prize in Physics, awarded to him in 1901. But instead of spending the money on his own concerns, Wilhelm donated it to his university and didn't have his discovery patented because he wanted it to be free for all to benefit from.

The X-ray performed on a human was done on Roentgens wife. Her wedding-ring bedecked hand was scanned in 1895. After seeing the X-ray result, she was shocked and was quoted as saying I have seen my death! The highest-energy X-rays are called Hard X-rays while the lowest energy X-rays are called Soft X-rays.

The first casualty of X-ray practice on a human was Clarence Dally he spent many years working on Thomas Edisons X-ray light bulb. While Edison decided to end his research into X-rays and light bulbs, Dally was so fascinated by Edisons project that he continued working until his hands became cancerous. He died at the age of 39 in 1898.

Bones can block X-ray waves which means they can be seen in every X-ray result. The white shadows on the film are bones that blocked the waves passing through, while the dark shadows represent X-rays waves that successfully passed through softer tissue.

Chandra X-ray was developed by NASA and launched in 1999. It was designed to capture X-ray emissions from hot regions of the universe to record images clusters of galaxies, black holes, and exploding stars caused by black holes and galactic collisions.
